cine

Some of the films splices have separated. Is this a problem?

Before a reel of cine film goes to one of our three film scanners we first check for any potential problems like broken splices. Old tape joins often dry out so they would be replaced before transfer. This is standard and is included in the price.

Do you offer bulk discount?

You will see on our price list that the price of a single 50ft reel is £8.00 plus a £15 setup charge. This allows for cleaning and the preparation time needed to set up your transfer. If you a number of films we are able to apply a discount depending the quantity involved. Each month we issue a discount code - so it would be advisable to check regularly as this month might include cine transfers

We have a large box of originals but are unable to get them to you.

We are able to pick up from a local address to collect larger volumes of originals if required.

We have both 8mm and 16mm film to transfer, can these go onto the same disc?

We don’t use the ‘straight to disc’ units that would make this impossible. We capture all film as image sequences. This is then sent to our editing suite where it is colour and density corrected. We then prepare the captures in the order you choose. Only when we are 100% happy convert them to a digital file, DVD or Blu ray.

We have film that was shot at 8fps. Is this a problem?

One of the many features our machines have is the ability to set the frame rate after capture. If you have cine that you know was not shot at the standard speed (Std 8 16fps Sup 8 18fps) just let us know and we’ll make the adjustments before creating the finished product.

Do you keep a copy of our transfers?

We keep your cine captures for about a month when they automatically delete to make space for new orders. This way, should you need a second copy or require additional work, it speeds up the process. We have on many occasions produced a second copy for customers after they show the results to other family members.
